The Credit Valley Hospital named a Greater Toronto Top Employer

 

MISSISSAUGA (November 17, 2011.) —For the second year in a row, The Credit Valley Hospital has been recognized as a Greater Toronto Top Employer by Media Corp. Canada. The hospital is one of just 95 workplaces in the Greater Toronto Area that has received this recognition and was chosen from among the 12,500 employers invited to apply for the Canada’s Top 100 Employer designation. 

Each organization entering the Greater Toronto Top Employer competition was evaluated on eight criteria, including physical workplace, health, financial and family benefits, employee communications performance management and training and skills development. Employers, which included those in both the private and public sectors, were compared to others in their field.

With so many of the country’s top employers headquartered in the GTA, the competition was intense. Each organization entering the competition was evaluated on eight criteria, which included physical workplace, health, financial and family benefits, employee communications, performance management, and training and skills development. Employers, which included those in both the private and public sectors, were compared to others in their field.

While Credit Valley has many innovative programs that make it an excellent place to work, the judges highlighted the following initiatives as some of the top reasons for winning the award:

  • CVH supports new mothers with maternity and parental leave top-up payments (to 84% of salary for 25 weeks) as well as parental leave top-up for new fathers (to 84% of salary for 10 weeks);
  • in addition to personal paid days-off, we start new registered nurses at four weeks of paid vacation allowance;
  • CVH encourages ongoing development with tuition subsidies for job-related courses, in-house and online training programs;
  • We’re committed to helping older workers prepare for life after work with a defined benefit pension plan.

The Credit Valley Hospital provides community-based patient and family-centred care to approximately one million people in Mississauga and the surrounding region. Our community hospital also has a teaching affiliation with The Academy of Medicine at the University of Toronto Mississauga. The Credit Valley Hospital has consistently achieved the highest awards from Accreditation Canada meeting national safety and patient care standards.
